Sick of sick.

Truly.

I'm trying to sit here and work through it, but the sick bug has hit me this time. If you hear heavy breathing and sniffling right now, don't worry, it's just me. I'm miserable. I'm missing my 2-day-a-week-day-job because of it today.

And, my 5 year old, threw up 6 times in the middle of the night last night.

Maybe we should just quarantine ourselves until May. Maybe even June. ;)

Maggie turns one!

Maggie is another baby-planner that I adore--it's hard to believe it's been a year since I began photographing her!

We decided to do her one year session in her natural environment, which is always very special.

I get very sentimental photographing children in their own home. They give expressions they wouldn't otherwise and I can look around and know the little things, that are so special in the moment, will be pushed to the back of the mind and all-too-soon forgotten. The lighting is almost never perfect, but it just doesn't matter.

My Style...hmmmm.....tell me what you think!!!

I need your help.

What would you call my style of photography?

I know of a few words I'd use, but I want to see what resonates with everyone else.

So, do me a favor and leave a comment, including some 'buzz' words you think define KDG Photography. If I use one of your words in a new brochure, I'll give you a coupon for a free 5x7!

I'm anxious to see what others come up with!

THANK YOU!

Cigar Box Purses!

I am really enjoying product photography--the subject matter doesn't move, have to be coerced, I don't have to dance for it, or bribe it with a cookie. ;) No, really, it's fabulous fun to share some time with creative people and see what others come up with!

Introducing Eltee Designs! The creator, LT, makes fabulous purses out of cigar boxes. She uses fine papers and materials to create truly one of a kind accessories--the purses are amazing.

LT is working on her new website www.elteedesigns.com, and you will be able to find my images on her website very soon. If you are really anxious to get your hands on one of these, send LT a message--the link is on the website.

Here is a sneak preview!

Philip and Collin--twins!

Philip and Collin have arrived! They are the third and fourth children of very dear friends, Callie and Rick. Callie and I worked together years ago and have stayed close ever since--I am truly blessed with amazing friends and Callie is no exception. She and I were pregnant together with our first girls--and named them both Emma! But, she was certainly on her own when she told me she was having twins this time! ;)

I was so excited to meet these little guys and photograph them--they are soooo cute!!

Congratulations to Callie, Rick, Emma, and Carson! Welcome Philip and Collin!!

(There are more images posted in my online proofing section on my website.)

Meet Isabella!

I truly enjoy photographing children and families in their own homes, using natural light--there's something very special about it. Parents think they'll never forget certain things about their child's nursery, but the fact is--we do forget. Including special toys, the crib, blankets--it's all part of those memories we store away--but to have them in photographs, for generations to enjoy is amazing.

Isabella had an amazing room--bold pink stripes, beautiful green curtains, and a round white crib!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I convinced my kids to do a QUICK little session for their Valentine's Day cards....and QUICK it was--I think they lasted all of 5 minutes. Fortunately, they are getting good at this. ;)

Carly had ANOTHER fever last night, and was obviously not feeling great, so it was a task for sure!

Regardless, I have something to send to the grandparents. :)

Have a great Valentine's Day!!

Found a fun new magazine

I was recently sitting in a doctor's office and found myself browsing through a magazine: Wonder Time. I particularly enjoy the photography and emphasis on enjoying the moments of childhood.

Check it out: www.wondertime.com

I can particularly relate to this month's cover....it reminded me of a shot I took this summer!

'Sick' update!

My fingers are crossed that my little one is finally starting to be better! She is definitely not 100% yet, but I'm going to try putting her in the care of someone else tomorrow for part of the day and see how it goes.

So, I am sorting through emails and such, trying to catch back up! :)

And Carla (my assistant) is also reporting that her children are on the mend as well--woohoo!!!

Everyone knock on wood for us!! ;)

I know we aren't the only ones dealing with sick kids--I have heard soooo many stories of really sick children lately, it's ridiculous. So, I'm hoping your own kids are feeling well too!

Kids are still sick

Just trying to keep client's updated.....my three year old remains very, very sick--for over a week now.

I've watched so many episodes of Scooby Doo, it's crazy--and gotten little work done. She's MISERABLE and so I'm MISERABLE--and a bit stir-crazy! Trust me when I say I'm ready to get back to work!!! :)

And my assistant has two kids with pneumonia. Like I said, work is looking very appealing these days!

My fingers are crossed that tomorrow is a turning point.

Thanks again for your patience.
